Academics at Armis Christian Academy
At Armis Christian Academy, instruction is grounded in a classical model of education and shaped by a biblical worldview. We believe students flourish when their natural stages of learning are honored and when faith and reason are integrated throughout every subject.
The Classical Education Model
Armis Christian Academy teaches students from a biblical perspective. Our academic approach follows the classical model of education, which aligns with the way students naturally grow and learn.
Classical education is structured around three developmental stages known as the Trivium: Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric. Each stage builds upon the previous one, guiding students toward intellectual maturity, thoughtful analysis, and effective communication.
The Trivium: Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric
Classical education is organized around three developmental stages known as the Trivium: Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric. Each stage aligns with how students naturally grow and learn, building upon the previous stage to cultivate knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.
Grammar Stage (1st–4th Grade)
Students in the Grammar stage are eager to learn and naturally inclined to memorize. They are hungry for facts and enjoy discovering new information about the world around them.
Instruction during this stage focuses on building strong foundations in reading, writing, mathematics, history, and biblical knowledge. Students acquire essential skills and content that will serve as the groundwork for deeper understanding in later stages of learning.
Logic Stage (5th–8th Grade)
As students mature, they begin to ask why. In the Logic stage, students take what they have learned and start to examine how ideas connect and relate to one another.
Instruction emphasizes reasoning, analysis, and critical thinking. Students learn to evaluate arguments, recognize patterns, and understand cause and effect, developing discernment and a desire to understand truth more deeply.
Rhetoric Stage (9th–12th Grade)
In the Rhetoric stage, students are prepared to communicate what they know clearly and persuasively. Instruction focuses on developing articulate writers and confident speakers who can express ideas with clarity, grace, and conviction.
Students learn to defend their beliefs, engage thoughtfully with others, and communicate truth effectively in both written and spoken forms as they prepare for life beyond graduation.
Character and Virtue Formation
Intrinsic to classical education is the teaching of virtue. At Armis Christian Academy, academic success is inseparable from character development.
Students are encouraged to persevere through challenges, recognizing that diligence, discipline, and integrity are essential for success in both school and life. Through this process, students develop virtuous habits that shape their character and guide their decisions.
A strong and virtuous character prepares students to become adults who contribute positively to their marriages, families, churches, and society.
Our Academic Aim
At Armis Christian Academy, we desire to honor and serve the Lord in teaching and sending prepared students into the world who are ready to defend their faith, regardless of the path they choose after graduation.
Our goal is to cultivate students who love learning, pursue excellence, and approach life with wisdom grounded in a biblical worldview.
Our Scriptural Foundation
Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
As Armis faculty and staff teach students from a biblical perspective, our desire is to instill a love for learning, a love for the Lord, and a desire to influence the world for Him.
Preparing Students for Learning
Academic excellence at Armis Christian Academy is supported through intentional preparation and clear expectations. Before the beginning of each academic year, registered students receive a book list outlining required texts and materials for their courses.
Parents are responsible for purchasing books and supplies prior to the start of school so that students are fully prepared to engage in learning from the first day of class. This preparation supports consistency, accountability, and a strong start to the academic year.
At Armis, academic preparation is about more than materials — it is about cultivating habits of diligence, responsibility, and readiness. Through classical instruction, character formation, and a Christ-centered approach to learning, we seek to equip students not only for academic success, but for a lifetime of faithful living, thoughtful leadership, and purposeful service.
